Dear Cousins, Aunts and Uncles
First of all thank you for your love and comments! I am very excited to have all of you meet Francesca, who is a wonderful girl. (For Becky: we met in Denver, when I was a seminarian dressed in black. She was attending her sister's wedding. I fell in love with her the moment I saw her, but did nothing about it for five years. Years later, when I returned from Israel in 2005, she flew to Denver the week later, by chance, to visit her sister. She arrived on the feast of the Virgin of Pompei (May 8) and our first date was on the feast of the Virgin of Fatima (May 13). The Virgin since has shown many signs of supporting our relationship, so on our honeymoon we are going (after Paris and the Cacharel) to Portugal, to give thanks to the Virgin in Fatima and place our marriage and family under her protection).
Concrete details about the wedding:
Aug. 4th, Conversano, Italy.
Best connection: fly NY, BOS, NJ, etc. to Rome, and then Rome to Bari.
Ground transportation: renting a car will be a must. You can do this in the Bari airport.
Hotel: we are deciding between Porto Giardino (Monopoli), Torre Cane (south of Monopoli), and some condos that offer private apartments with kitchens. More details later. The first two have websites.
Driving: Monopoli is 15 min. driving south along the coast from Bari. Conversano is 10-15 min. inland from Monopoli.
Church: Maris Stella, Conversano.
Reception: Villa Profilo, Mesagna.
Please let me know whether you are seriously considering coming so that we can know how many rooms to book. We will of course be sending invitations, but an initial number would be helpful.
Tourism: Zoo Safari, historic town of Albero bello (medieval buildings called 'Trulli' with 'druidic' symbolism and unique architectural style), beautiful Italian beaches and coastline, Lecce city ('the Florence of the South'), cave of stalagtites and stalagmites, numerous historic towns and churches in the region, numerous other activities. (In addition to the wedding and reception, the later of which will be held in Francesca's family's Villa in the countryside. Two words: Gor-geous. Not to mention the incredible italian food and wine).
Hope to hear from you all! Any preferences, questions, requests are welcome.
God bless,
Peter

Peter, it sounds like it will be absolutely amazing. Michael and I will certainly do everything in our power to be able to make it. The real question for us will be if we can afford the flight over after Babes is born. I know how the headcount is so important for weddings, though, so we will definitely try to crunch the numbers and come to a decision sooner rather than later for you.
